You can add
Poolmaster 2000 to the long list of pool games, but I think it
should actually appear at the top. That's because it's one of
the more playable and entertaining games in this group of
software. Poolmaster 2000 doesn't pay too much attention to
physics and all that other technical stuff. It does present a
complete pool simulation, and it's packaged into a user-friendly
interface.
In all, the game features five different variations, including
8-ball, 9-ball, rotation, straight pool and billiards. You can
play practice pool or hustle a CPU opponent. There's no on-line
multi-player option, but you can play against another human on a
single PC.

Poolmaster 2000 only requires a few tries until you learn how
to play it. Basically, you aim your shot by rotating your
virtual pool stick across the table. The strength of your shot
increases as you move the stick further out. Then, you simply
release the mouse button to shoot. As you become more
proficient, you can try bank and combination shots. There's also
an English feature for perfecting the cue spin. The game
provides a fantastic instant replay feature, and an undo option
to reverse failed shots.
At first glance, Poolmaster 2000 may not appear to be the
most sophisticated pool game. It's not, but that proves to be
its most endearing quality. If you're looking for an addicting
pool game, one that's easy to play and authentic, this is the
one. This shareware version offers lots of gameplay, but
restricts some features.
